Strawbery Banke Announces New April Vacation Camp for Grades One Through Four
PORTSMOUTH— Strawbery Banke Museum is excited to introduce American Adventures Camp, a brand-new April vacation camp designed for children in grades one through four. This engaging week-long program, running April 28 through May 2, 2025, invites young historians to step back in time and experience history through hands-on activities, storytelling, and imaginative play. For registration details, visit StrawberyBanke.org/camps.
Coinciding with school vacation week, this camp occurs at Strawbery Banke Museum from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. American Adventures Camp offers an opportunity for children to explore the past with their favorite doll or stuffed animal in tow. Campers will take part in interactive experiences such as baking cookies on a Colonial hearth, playing historic games, dressing in period clothing, and crafting doll-sized accessories to take home.
"Play and learning are entwined, " said Linnea Grim, President and CEO, Thomas W. Haas Endowed Chair. “At Strawbery Banke, we believe it is an essential part of a child’s educational journey. American Adventures Camp is designed to not only engage kids with history but also to inspire curiosity and creativity through fun, hands-on activities."
The cost is $400 per week, with a 10% discount for additional children from the same household. Extended childcare is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for an additional $30 per day. Financial assistance is available for camps.
To ensure accessibility for all campers, the Museum has a lending library of 18-inch dolls available for children who may not have their own, allowing every participant to fully enjoy the experience.
"Strawbery Banke Museum is dedicated to making its programs accessible to all families," continued Grim. Through the History Within Reach scholarship program, eligible families can receive up to 50% off camp tuition. “We are deeply grateful to the generosity of individuals and the Georgia-Pacific Foundation for making this scholarship fund possible."
