Step Up Parents Receives $55,000 Grant from The NH Charitable Foundation

PORTSMOUTH—Step Up Parents (SUP) is thrilled to announce the NH Charitable Foundation has made a generous grant in the amount of $55,000. This donation will support SUP’s mission to provide critical financial assistance and other support for kinship families in New Hampshire and Southern Maine raising children affected by parental substance use disorder (SUD).
 
“We are so grateful for this very generous donation from the NH Charitable Foundation,” said Jessica Parker, Step Up Parents Executive Director. “We truly appreciate the Foundation’s continued support of our mission. The funds received will make a truly meaningful impact in the lives of so many kinship families in New Hampshire.
 
This grant is made possible by gifts from the following by funds from Impax Asset Management Charitable Fund, Joseph G. and Jean E. Sawtelle Fund, Oliver J. and Dorothy Penniman Hubbard New Futures Fund, Skylark Fund, and an anonymous donor-advised fund.
 
“Whether we are providing basic needs assistance for housing, utilities, food, and transportation, or helping children participate in driver’s education, sports, clubs, and attend summer camp it is gratifying to know so many people in the community want to step up and help these amazing caregivers,” said Parker.
 
Since launching in 2019, SUP has given over $400,000 in assistance to more than 700 families, helping bring stability and hope to more than 1,000 “kinship kids.” In 2024, SUP helped 163 families with 277 children.
