City Council approves holiday gift of 3 hours free parking in City garages from Dec. 16, 2024 through Jan. 1, 2025
PORTSMOUTH – The Portsmouth NH City Council voted to approve three hours of free parking in the City’s Foundry and Hanover Garages from Monday, Dec. 16, 2024 through Jan. 1, 2025 to encourage enjoyment of holiday events, dining, and downtown shopping.
Downtown employees who use the City’s discounted parking program in the Foundry Garage can receive an additional three hours free of charge.
Parking meters and the timed parking ordinances will be unaffected. This encourages turnover in the use of the spaces to allow a greater number of people to park, shop, and visit downtown restaurants and attractions during the holiday week.
Fifteen-minute metered time limits will also remain in effect. Downtown parking enforcement hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 8 p.m. Any declared snow parking bans will also be enforced.

The City hopes residents and visitors will take this opportunity to support Portsmouth’s local small businesses, restaurants, and arts and cultural attractions.
