About Us
The Music Hall is a nonprofit performing arts center comprised of two venues in the heart of downtown Portsmouth, NH. One is an 895-seat Victorian-era theater, recently restored and renovated; the other is a 116-seat nightclub-style, converted storefront venue, which opened in 2011 and was recently renovated in 2022.
The Music Hall is reliant on the ongoing support of its members and sponsors to carry out its mission as a nonprofit arts and entertainment organization. Members and sponsors have the opportunity to enjoy this newly renovated Members Club featuring an art deco, speakeasy feel and top-shelf cocktails, along with other first-class refreshments from McKeon’s Bar. Located directly next to the Historic Theater, guests can enter on Chestnut Street through an exclusive private entrance, and exit through the brand new passageway connecting the Members Club to the theater, making a transition between buildings seamless to ensure you never miss a beat!
