Valerie’s Gallery to host potter Ben Gaboury for Art 'Round Town on June 2 PORTSMOUTH, NH: Valerie's Gallery in Portsmouth NH will be participating in the city's upcoming Art Round Town by featuring an artist's reception with Ben Gaboury on Friday, June 2 from 5-8 pm, at the gallery, located at 117 Market Street in Portsmouth, NH. Gaboury, from Taunton, MA, makes hand thrown functional scrimshaw-like pottery. His traditional stoneware pieces are hand decorated with fine scrimshaw-inspired drawings such as tall ships and playful whales. "Everyone is always amazed that Ben draws these detailed ships free-hand without a stencil or decal. And the scrimshaw look (executed on pottery, not animal bone or tusk) is timeless with the simple color palette of black and white with occasional color accents" says Valerie Stainton, owner of Valerie’s Gallery.
