Description

Come join in the revelry as we celebrate the release of "The Best F---- Poets You've Never Heard Of." a collection of poetry by four rising New England writers. Publishing house Underground Writers Association brings to you the respected works of Myles Burr, Joel Carpenter, Nicholas Coulombe, and Elsbeth Willis all in one book.

Each poet will be reading select pieces of their own so be sure not to miss out on a spoken word frenzy of four powerhouse poets. Myles Burr is a writer, poet, and vocalist from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. His style is mainly free form and highly autobiographical. He draws influence from the day to day heartaches of existence and the tiny eccentricities each and every one of us attempt to hide from the world. He is the self-published author of two chapbooks, “Convolutions Of An Unkempt Mind.” and “It's Fine. I'm Fine.”

Joel Carpenter is a musician and poet based in New England. After a decade of writing music with bands Joel decided to take a break from music and explore poetry. He was the director and editor of Never Ending Fall(Young Street Publishing, 2015), a children's poetry compilation book which made media attention. He is also the founder of publishing house Underground Writers Association. In March 2018 Joel self released his debut poetry book "Things We Lost". His poetic influences range form Bukowski, John Keats, Jim Morrison and everything in between. Joel was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and now resides in Portland, Maine. Nicholas Coulombe shares tear-jerking, relatable and honest poetry of loss, passion and witness; Inspired by moments inside the world's of Senior Care, Direct Support, Education and many more. Nicholas features his poetry all across New England and has been published in titles such as: "The Poets of Maine", "The West End" and "GOOD FAT Poetry Zine".

Elsbeth Willis is a budding poet who grew up in Stratham, but her experiences living in Scotland and Portugal have shaped her writing style. She received her Masters in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh, studying and envying ‘The Greats’ of the literary world among the gothic spires and cobbled streets. Having kept a collection of pen scratchings hidden for two decades, Elsbeth took the opportunity this year to challenge herself and to begin sharing her work. Since that day of courage Elsbeth has been a featured poet in five local poetry shows including Beat Night Portsmouth, and on the podcast The Business Of Women, published in Good Fat vol. 1, and the Good Fat Anthology of Women Poets among other local publications. Elsbeth’s body of work centers on the deep-seeded complexity of modern society, relationships, sexuality, and self-identity within those parameters.
