Description

The Portsmouth Historic Sites’ symposium includes four presentations:

Jim Craig, Executive Director, Albacore Park presents, “A Measureless Peril:  Wartime Hysteria, Spies, Surrenders at Sea, and German U-boats off Portsmouth in WWII”

Richard Adams, President of Wentworth-Lear Association presents, “Notable Denizens of Portsmouth's South Cemetery”

Gerald W. R. Ward, Senior Consulting Curator Emeritus, MFA Boston and Consulting Curator Portsmouth Historical Society presents, “Four Centuries of Portsmouth Furniture: An Introduction”

Karen Raynes, Curious Researcher/Historian/Writer, presents the documentary film "The Queens of Hampton Beach New Hampshire: The History of the Carnival Queens & Miss Hampton Beach Beauty Pageant  1915-2015"

Plus, updates on current and upcoming projects

The symposium is a fundraiser for the Portsmouth Historic Sites and also will include raffle baskets and the sale of additional items from members Historic New England and the Gov. Langdon, Jackson and Rundlet-May houses, Strawbery Banke Museum, the John Paul Jones House Museum, the Warner House, Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion, the Moffatt-Ladd House and Garden, the Wentworth-Lear Historic Houses, the Albacore, and the Gundalow Company.  Information on location and hours (most PHSA sites are open June through October) available at each website and http://www.portsmouthistorichouses.org
