Description

Ocean Frontiers III: Leaders in Ocean Stewardship & the New Blue Economy is a powerful film that spotlights the United State’s first-ever regional ocean plans in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic and chronicles our efforts to plan for a healthy, safe, and sustainable future. It explores the intersection of national security, maritime commerce, fishing, and recreation, plus expanding industries such as offshore wind energy and aquaculture, coupled with scientific discovery. The film tells the story of how ocean planning helps us manage and balance all the uses of our ocean to keep it thriving for generations to come. Ocean Frontiers III: Leaders in Ocean Stewardship & the New Blue Economy is the third in the series that chronicles how the ocean planning process has opened a window to show us what is possible when people with different interests work together to achieve a common goal. The evening will begin with a reception including coffee and dessert, and feature educational materials from the event hosts. After the screening, a distinguished panel will address how the Northeast Ocean Plan is benefitting their work and what the biggest challenges are for protecting wildlife, enhancing recreational uses, and managing commercial uses in New England waters. The discussion will be moderated by Aimee Bushman, CLF’s Ocean Planning Outreach Manager and Director of the New England Ocean Action Network. Panelists include Betsy Nicholson, North Regional Director, Office for Coastal Management, NOAA, Ted Diers, Director, NH Division of Environmental Services, Priscilla Brooks, Vice President and Director of Ocean Conservation, CLF, and David Kaselauskas, Lobsterman, Kittery Point, ME. This event is hosted by the Seacoast Science Center and Conservation Law Foundation, both members of the New England Ocean Action Network, a diverse group of organizations, individuals, and industries working together to promote new approaches to ocean management in our region based on collaboration, cooperation and sound science, and by Green Fire Productions. Event Co-hosts: Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation, Conservation Law Foundation, Gulf of Maine Marine Education Association, The Gundalow Company, New Hampshire Community Seafood, New Hampshire State Parks, Rye Public Library, Shoals Marine Laboratory, Star Island, and Surfrider Foundation. Event Sponsors: The event is generously sponsored by Green Fire Productions and Physical Sciences, Inc.
