MIXX: Young DJ Workshop w/DJ Skooch

3S Artspace presents: MIXX: Young DJ Workshop with DJ Skooch Monday, February 24 - Friday, February 28 $250/person Let's train the next generation of music DJs! This five-day intensive led by DJ Skooch (Jen Scumaci) in the Performance Space at 3S Artspace introduces students (ages 10-12) to the basics from setting up sound/mixing equipment, to building playlists, to beat-mixing. Students will also learn a bit of DJ history, music theory, teamwork skills, and problem solving in a safe and creative environment. On the final day, the workshop culminates in a showcase for friends and family with MIXX students using their new skills to spin tunes as students from our simultaneous Fashion ReWERKED workshop display their fashion design creations. Our goal? We want students to leave the workshop with new skills and inspiration to express themselves through music, sound, and technology. Lead Instructor: DJ Skooch (aka Jen Scumaci) is one of the best beat-mix, remix, and mash-up DJs on the Seacoast. She has been the opening DJ for the Ladies of LCD Soundsystem National Tour, Thievery Corporation’s Treasures from the Temple Tour, & INBOUND Rocks Presents Amy Schumer (2017) and Two Dope Queens (2018). Coined "The Community's DJ," Skooch has also provided the soundtrack for community-focused events including TEDx Portsmouth, Portsmouth PRIDE, Telluride by the Sea, Beats with Benefits, & PechaKucha Night. DJ Skooch custom-curates every performance, but always begins from a core belief that nothing is more important than our connections to each other and our environment. Additional forms are required to complete enrollment in the MIXX workshop. Registration fees are non-refundable.
