Description
For thousands of years and all across the world, people have been fascinated by the magic of indigo dye. In this two-day workshop each person will learn how to dye with indigo and use shibori techniques to create patterns on clothe. We will explore the following: • How to make an indigo vat • Itajime folded and clamped resist • Stitch Resist Students will learn proper safety, vatting techniques, and dyeing strategies for each shibori method. This workshop is for ALL LEVELS meaning those who have no experience to advanced students are welcome. Each student will leave with beautifully dyed fabrics, scarves, or wearables, Japanese indigo seeds if they wish to grow their own indigo, and instructional handouts to continue their exploration.
