Happy Hour is about to get even happier in Portsmouth. Located along Lafayette Road, Tuscan Kitchen is debuting new items on its weekday afternoon menu and also rolling out a Sunday Happy Hour service available weekly from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Weekdays from 3-6 p.m., locals and tourists alike can nosh on raw bar essentials like freshly shucked local Oysters with cocktail sauce and mignonette ($1 each), Shrimp Cocktail ($2 each), and Lump Crab Cakes with pickled red onions and saffron aioli ($8).
Specialties from executive chef David Crinieri are creations like Mac & Cheese with cresto di gallo, fonduta and seasoned toasted breadcrumbs ($8) and a housemade Grilled Tuscan Sausage with horseradish and a red pepper agrodolce ($6) while other snacks include Truffle Fries with truffle salt and Parmigiano Reggiano ($6) and a Salumi e Formaggi board of prosciutto di Parma, Parmigiano Reggiano and truffle-honey ($10). Pizza lovers can rejoice with oven-fired pies that use “Doppio Zero” flour like the Margherita with hand-stretched mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, basil and extra virgin olive oil ($10); Quattro Formaggi drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and topped with mozzarella, fontina, ricotta and parmesan ($10); Polpetto with signature meatballs, San Marzano tomatoes, fresh oregano and whipped ricotta ($11); and, Scampi with garlic shrimp and capers ($12). On the liquid side, there is a collection of $6 wine pours, $4 draft beers and $8 signature cocktails: Bella Rosa with grapefruit vodka, muddled grapefruit, simple syrup, lemon juice and candied grapefruit; Blueberry Lemon Drop Martini with blueberry vodka, limoncello and muddled blueberries; Tuscan Tini with citron vodka, limoncello, hand-muddled basil, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup; Palermo with spiced rum, elderflower liqueur, grapefruit juice, Tuscan simple syrup and muddled mint; and, Cucumber-Watermelon Mojito with white rum, muddled cucumber and watermelon, lime and simple syrup.
