Description
Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Donald Hall's "The Ox-Cart Man" Strawbery Banke’s Fall & Children's Authors Festival showcases traditional New England handmade crafts, heritage breed, and farm animal demonstrations, and the museum's heirloom gardens and seed-saving program. The event also incorporates the 5th Annual Children's Book Festival, featuring 20+ local authors and illustrators in the TYCO Visitors Center 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. This year's event celebrates the 40th anniversary of the 'Ox-Cart Man' written by Donald Hall and illustrated by Barbara Cooney. The book tells the story of an early-19th-century farmer in New Hampshire, who uses an ox-cart to transport family-made goods to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. In addition, Fall Festival welcomes NorthEast Seacoast Unit - Herb Society of America, making sachets & tussie mussies; the NH Wheelmen, antique bicycle demonstration; Seacoast Modern Quilt Guild's exhibit of newly-made quilts and Slow Food Seacoast with an heirloom seed share.
