Description

Accessible and Sensory-Friendly Stroll Sunday, December 15, 2024, 2-4 PM Strawbery Banke Museum invites you to a special Accessible and Sensory-Friendly Stroll on Sunday, December 15, from 2 to 4 PM. This inclusive event is designed for visitors with accessibility needs, offering a peaceful, spacious opportunity to explore our historic houses and grounds before sunset, during daylight hours. Our trained staff will be on hand throughout the event to ensure a warm and supportive experience for all visitors. Accessibility Features: Ramps, railings, and mobility guides will be clearly marked. Wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Visitor Center. Bright lighting will ensure all houses and outdoor spaces are well-illuminated for safety. Interactive roleplayers will provide tactile objects for sensory learners to engage with history. Sensory-Friendly Enhancements: Quiet zones will be marked on the Map Guide, offering calming spaces with limited scents, sounds, and stimulation. Larger-font Map Guides will be available on-site and online for easier reading. The event will have reduced capacity, with tickets limited to 500, ensuring ample space within the houses. About Candlelight Stroll: Candlelight Stroll invites visitors to step into the past and experience 350+ years of seasonal and holiday traditions in the Puddle Dock neighborhood. The Museum’s furnished historic houses are adorned with handmade decorations created from greens and dried flowers from the Museum’s heirloom gardens. Visitors call upon the many families who once lived in the waterfront neighborhood – portrayed by costumed roleplayers – who share stories, customs, and seasonal traditions. While traveling from house to historic house, the glow of hundreds of candle lanterns and string lights illuminate the way as guests enjoy seasonal greetings from wandering musicians and performers who recreate the traditions of times past.’ Please note that parking for visitors with accessibility needs is very limited, as the small Museum lot is reserved for accessible parking on a first-come, first-served basis. MEMBERS Members get early access to tickets and up to 100% off, depending on their membership level. The number of discounted tickets also varies by membership level. Adults (18+): $16 or free Children (ages 3-17): $8 or free Children (under 3): free NONMEMBERS Experience Candlelight Stroll at Strawbery Banke Museum.
