Description
Every September, dozens of folk and sea music performers bring maritime folk music and song to downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The 20th annual festival showcases music from the U.S., British Isles and Canada at venues in the Market Square area, including Portsmouth Gas Light (64 Market St.), and the Portsmouth Athenaeum (9 Market Square). Performers in 2018 include Jeff Warner, Julia Friend, John Roberts, Gina and Bill Dunlap, The Vox Hunters, Ken Shatz, Chris Madden, Linn Shultz, Charlie Ipcar, Peter and Audi Souza, Alex Cumming, as well as Aubry Atwater and Elwood Donnelly. There will also be several local groups that came together years ago as a result of the festival—London Julie, Mudhook, Great Bay Sailor, and Two Old Friends. A Saturday evening concert will be held at the First Methodist Church on Miller Ave. This is an all-ages event with audience participation strongly encouraged! Hours Sat. 10:00AM - 10PM, Sun. 1 - 5:30 p.m. All events FREE; donations appreciated. For more, visit pmffest.org
