DESCRIPTION:Explore the art of hand quilting in this beginner workshop at Strawbery Banke. Participants will learn the traditional technique of whole cloth quilting while creating a hand-quilted hot pad\, a practical and beautiful accessory for the kitchen.\n\n\n\nNo prior sewing or quilting experience is required. Guided by Museum instructors\, you'll practice hand-stitching on mid-colored quilting cotton with natural fiber batting and finish your piece with bias tape. Using simple tools such as embroidery hoops and fabric marking pens\, you'll learn the foundational skills of quilting while enjoying the relaxing rhythm of hand stitching. By the end of the workshop\, you'll take home a completed hot pad and the skills to continue exploring hand quilting on your own.\n\n\n\nThis workshop is suitable for ages 16 and older and limited to 8 participants. All materials and tools are provided. Members $65\; Nonmembers $75.
