SUMMARY:Children's Museum Teddy Bear Clinic
DESCRIPTION:What do you do when your teddy bear is looking tattered or your stuffed bunny is worse for wear? Children are invited to bring their favorite stuffed animal to the annual Teddy Bear Clinic at the Children's Museum of NH for some TLC on Friday\, August 8 from 10 am noon. This event is presented by long-time sponsors Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Appledore Medical Group.\n\n \n\nThe clinic is set up like miniature hospital and is designed to let kids take on the role of parents as they accompany their stuffed animal through a health visit. Experiencing this process may help children feel more confident and less scared during their next visit to the doctor or hospital.\n\n \n\nVolunteer health professionals from Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Appledore Medical Group will be on hand with museum staff to register each animal\, issue plastic ID bracelets\, perform check-ups\, and give "prescriptions" for healthy eating and exercise. There is also a surgical area where volunteers can sew up minor tears\, wrap broken limbs and apply band-aids where needed. At the end of the appointment\, each child and their animal will receive a certificate of good health to take home.\n\n \n\nA tea party for children and their furry guests will follow the Teddy Bear Clinic from 12-12:30 pm inside the museum with animal crackers\, fresh fruit\, juice and water for all.
