DESCRIPTION:Well-known local watercolor artist Denise F. Brown of Portsmouth\, NH has recently created the children's book\, "USS Albacore Submarine\, Welcome Aboard!" which is about a famous submarine that sits on the ground at Albacore Park in Portsmouth\, New Hampshire and how she got there.\n\nThe book\, "USS Albacore Submarine\, Welcome Aboard!" tells the story of the one-of-a-kind submarine with the revolutionary tear-dropped shaped hull\, from her design and production at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard\, to her adventures at sea and eventual decommissioning at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. When the people of Portsmouth found out the Navy wanted to use her for target practice and was planning on sinking her in the ocean\, friends of Albacore rallied to save her and bring her home to Portsmouth. Brown's animated characters and colorful illustrations of the sub's journey brings the Albacore back to life. Thousands of people were involved along the way   you might even recognize a few of them in the story.
