SUMMARY:PMAC Jazz Night 2019
DESCRIPTION:PMAC and Tangram 3DS present Jazz Night 2019\n\n\n\nFor the twelfth straight year\, PMAC (Portsmouth Music and Arts Center) will present JAZZ NIGHT\, a series of curated concerts featuring the faculty of PMAC's Jazz Institute. Join many of the region's top jazz musicians for this exploration of America's greatest original art form. This year we celebrate 80 years of Blue Note Records.\n\n\n\nWhat Motown was to soul\, Blue Note was to jazz: synonymous with a sound\, it not only released but also defined. The label\, founded in New York in 1939\, was home to many of the great jazz musicians of the 20th Century. Blue Note produced albums from Cannonball Adderly\, Art Blakey\, Miles Davis\, Lena Horne\, and Sonny Rollins to Patricia Barber\, Terence Blanchard\, Robert Glasper\, Wynton Marsalis\, and Cassandra Wilson\, just to name a few.\n\n\n\nEach JAZZ NIGHT will feature a unique band performing completely different shows on Friday and Saturday\, with music by classic and contemporary Blue Note Artists. Come for one or both evenings and go back in time as The Music Hall Loft is transformed into a NYC jazz club.
